Dien Bien Phu, to the Southwest of Sapa, was where the battle that finally ended colonial rule in Vietnam took place. The historic battlefields located in and around the 20km-long valley of Dien Bien Phu. Characteristics: After the victorious battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954, almost all historical sites of this battle lying to the east of the Muong Thanh Field have been preserved intact. The area around Dien Bien Phu is also home to many ethnic minorities.
Day 1: Arrival to Hanoi (D) Arrival in Hanoi, welcome by our tour guide and transfer to down town for check-in hotel. Having dinner at restaurant. Evening: enjoy the famous water puppet show before having dinner at restaurant. O/N in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu (BLD) Breakfast at hotel. Check-out then transfer to airport for short flight to Dien Bien Phu (50min on plane). Arrive to DBP, Our Driver pick you up at airport then transfer to visiting: the historic battlefields of Dien Bien Phu, this is the big battle in 1954 against the French. The town is one of the most remote parts of Vietnam, only 34 kilometer from the Lao border. Lunch, Dinner at hotel. O/N in DPB.
Day 3: Dien Bien Phu – Lai Chau (110km ~ 3-4hrs drive) (BLD) Breakfast at hotel. Then transfer to Muong Lay in Lai Chau province. Visit ethnic villages on the way. Check-in the LAN ANH hotel on arrival. Free at leisure. Having lunch, dinner at hotel. O/N in LAI CHAU.
Day 4: Lai Chau – Sapa (190km ~ 6-7hrs drive) (BLD) Breakfast at hotel. Leave Lai Chau to Sapa town. Visit ethnic villages on the way. Arrive to Sapa on afternoon, check-in the hotel on arrival. After short rest, make a short trek to visit Ham Rong mountain for birth-eyes view whole Sapa town. At leisure for your own discovery Sapa at night or love market just open on every Saturday night in town. Enjoy dinner at restaurant. O/N in Sapa.
Day 5: Sapa – Ethnic villages (BLD) Breakfast at hotel. Visit some of nearby hill tribe villages: Ta Fin and Cat Cat. The next attraction is Thac Bac (Silver waterfalls). At the end of the week we can see the H’mong, Dao and other ethnic minorities trek into town from the surrounding countryside to trade goods at the weekend markets in Sapa. There, they sell silver jeweler, traditional embroidered fabrics and authentic articles of hill tribe clothing at the markets. O/N in Sapa.
Day 6: Sapa – Ethnic market – Laocai – On Train (BLD) After breakfast at hotel, Then excursion to Ethnic markets (if on Tuesday or Lung Khau Nhin ethnic market – on Thursday; or Bac Ha ethnic market – on Sunday). Morning, minorities from surrounding villages such as Flower Hmong, Black Zao and Tay, gather to sell and buy their products. After visiting the market, you travel by boat downstream. Along the ride, you can enjoy magnificent sight of the beautiful caves and life on the riverbank. The trip will also offers you a visit to Trung Do village of Tay minority, where you can stop by a traditional Tay house for a cup of tea. After then get on the bus for the journey back to Lao Cai Rai Way Station. Having dinner at local restaurant before catching the Night Train back to Hanoi. Overnight on train.
Day 7: Hanoi – Departure (B) Pick up at Hanoi Railway station then transfer to hotel in down town for breakfast. At leisure until transfer to the airport for departure flight to home. End of services.
